Budapest Parade August 2006. Floats and girls and crowd.
These pictures were taken with my Canon 20D and a manual focus Pentax 35-105 MM lens from the 1970's. Good glass ages well. Unlike most of my pictures, these shots were made in JPEG format rather than RAW for a couple of reason.
First, I knew there would be a lot of pictures so I didn't want to spend days processing images of half-clad starlets. Second, I had only a single memory card with me and didn't want to run out of space. Finally I was happy to have to walk the tightrope of JPEG (RAW is much more leniant with exposure) to see how the camera and I would do in a reportage type situation.
The images you see below have not even been retouched in Photoshop. That's what comes out of the camera.
I am going to get a proper focus screen (which I've done for my Pentax *ist DS), but on a whole I'm pretty happy with the colourful Canon world. Canon cameras give a much more rose coloured view of the world than Nikon, Sony or Pentax which see the world in much bluer tones.
Despite my own predilection for Mikhail Lermontov and Anna Akhmatova, I am at home with the Canon colours. Through a good lens they are much like the colours of Leo Tolstoi's writing. Bright, intense and full of passion.
Hungarian women, despite the beauties you see below, as a group are not the most beautiful but they have more temperament and passion than women anywhere else in the world (that I've been). Hungarian food is excellent and spicy, as is the wine. Much like France, Hungary is a country of the senses.
Enjoy.
